Make the most of your visit

Sri Lanka is a land of astonishing diversity and no major destination is more than a few hours’ drive away. The Barberyn offers specially arranged tours of any of Sri Lanka’s numerous cultural highlights, including:
  • Kandy, the cultural capital in the island’s centre, home to Sri Lanka’s most important Buddhist temple, the Temple of the Tooth, and the annual Perahera festival, a world-famous spectacle drawing visitors from around the globe.
  • North of Kandy, the celebrated Cultural Triangle of ancient cities including Polonnaruwa, Anuradapura and Sigiriya, with ruined temples featuring fabulous rock paintings, carvings and magnificent Buddha statues dating back thousands of years.
  • The port city of Galle just to the south, whose rich colonial history stems from its unique combination of Portuguese, Dutch and British influence. Its main tourist draw is its ancient Fort, a walled enclave containing a dazzling pot-pourri of traditional buildings that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • The Hill Country, whose long-established tea plantations produce some the world's finest tea. Nicknamed “Little England” for its cool, temperate climate, the regional capital Nuwara Eliya contains some famous colonial hotels.
  • Numerous dry- and wet-land nature reserves and wildlife sanctuaries around the country.
