Food and dining

Food is an important aspect of a vacation and the Barberyn Chefs and the health Centre work closely to bring you a variety of wholesome and delicious meals.

Food is also an integral part of Ayurveda and guests use their time at Barberyn to get to know the links between food and health and your own unique system of digestion. The doctors are ready to explain to you what type of vegetables and fruits you have and what you should avoid. While you take the herbal medicine it is important to abide by their advice.

The Dining room

The dining room enjoys a prime location on the fourth floor of the main building, with views of the verdant trees and ocean on one side and the distant hills on the other. The building is served by a lift and is connected t the accommodation by wide ramps providing wheel chair access. The dining room is open on two sides and guests linger over meals, enjoying the views and listening to the call of the birds.

Begin the day with tropical fresh fruit and fruit juices, herbal and Sri Lankan black tea, Yoghurt, eastern and western bread, as well as traditional Eastern breads and yams and the nourishing conjee with different leaves - "the green soup" which also aids digestion.

The highlight of the lunch buffet is the range of vegetables - cooked in different ways, and fresh fish, followed by fruits, curd (ike yogurt) and treacle, and desert for those who are not watching their weight.

Dinner is a set meal with a soup, or entre, main meal and desert. Guests can select to have the vegetarian main course or the fish option.

Saturday evening is a "Sri Lanka night" with wonderful Sri Lanka food - some of it cooked at the Buffett table, and eastern music played by a group of traditional musicians.
