🪻Each year, Barberyn Resorts observes a series of spiritual rituals to remember and convey merit to our founders, Sudana and Chitra Rodrigo, while invoking the blessings of the Triple Gem (the Buddha, Dhamma, and Sangha ) for the New Year. 🌱
This year’s commemorations included deeply meaningful traditions such as pirith chanting which is the recitation of the Buddha’s words for protection, traditional dancers and drummers, alms giving, and the water-pouring ceremony (Pen Wedeema), during which water is gently poured from a jug into a bowl until it overflows, symbolising remembrance and the sharing of merit with all those who have departed this earth.🌼
A significant new initiative this year was the laying of the foundation stone for the planned Barberyn Silent Retreat, located on land adjoining Barberyn Beach. This marks an important step in Barberyn’s continued commitment to mindful living, spiritual growth, and future offerings.🌻
We are grateful to everyone who joined us in these meaningful moments, as we honoured our past and looked ahead with mindfulness and intention.🌺

Christmas and New Year week at Barberyn Resorts was all about family, friends, and guests coming together. Everyone arrived, slowed down, and made themselves at home. 🌞🪻
Behind the scenes, our teams were busy preparing meals, setting up, rehearsing, and bringing everything together.
On Christmas Eve, carols filled the evening, led by a children’s choir and a nativity play that everyone stopped to watch and enjoy. The days were filled with good food, music, dancing, a visit from Santa, and many shared moments. 🌟🌱
New Year’s Eve brought everyone together once more first to receive blessings from the monks, with the gentle chanting of piriths creating a moment of calm, reflection, and gratitude. Then a special dinner, simple celebrations, and a countdown that felt relaxed and genuine.
It was a week full of warmth, teamwork, and good energy, a beautiful way to end the year and welcome the next.
