In conversation with my brother Manick one day, he told me ” You don’t need to chase behind success. If we are still, success will come to your hand”
I remembered these words as I held our most recent Presidential Award for the best Exporter of Health and Wellness Services in my hands. We had received this annual award for the 11th consecutive time and was a key contributor to the national economy. A few months earlier we received the Sri Lanka Tourism Award for the Best Ayurveda Resort, which we had received each year it was given since 2007 (except for one year) Barberyn had been inducted to the Hall of Fame. These are awards that carried a rigorous selection process and carefully audited by independent panels.
And ever since that conversation I have wondered What is success in business? What is success in one’s personal life?”
And more recently what is Stillness? and I know now that stillness needs to be learnt. It needs to be practiced. With stillness comes clarity. Inner strength. Dignity. All of which we have needed on this long journey of 55 years with our staff. They are the real winners of these awards.
